Bank holiday today: Some parts of India are observing Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr), Khutub-E-Ramzan, Sarhul today, on March 21, 2026. Hence banks in many parts of the country are closed this Saturday. March 21 is the third Saturday of the month and in normal course would not be a holiday, but festivals today mean that some states will see bank branches closed.The RBI has already notified a wide list of locations where banking services at physical branches will not be available on Saturday. Some parts of the country saw bank closures related to Eid-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan) on March 20, 2026 as well.
Bank holiday on March 21, 2026: State-wise list
Banks will remain closed on March 21 in Tripura, Gujarat, Mizoram, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Assam, Telangana, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Nagaland, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Goa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Jammu & Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh.Even if branches remain closed, digital banking channels– including ATMs, UPI, internet banking and mobile apps –are expected to function normally, enabling customers to carry out routine financial transactions such as fund transfers and bill payments.Bank holidays later in the month include Shree Ram Navami (March 26–27) and Mahavir Janmakalyanak / Mahavir Jayanti (March 31) in several states. Earlier closures were also observed for regional festivals such as Holi-related events, Dol Jatra, Chapchar Kut, Shab-I-Qadr and Ugadi.Customers are advised to confirm the holiday status in their respective state before visiting a branch, particularly during festive periods when local schedules may differ.
