Mumbai, May 6, 2025 — In a troubling turn of events, Affinity Salons — once a known name in the personal care industry — now finds itself under a cloud of serious allegations. Multiple housekeeping and facility management companies, including one Zoroastrian-owned firm, have accused the chain of not clearing service payments and contributing to mass layoffs by failing to pay wages for months.

One Parsi-run firm, with a history of professional excellence in Mumbai’s service sector, claims it is owed over INR 50,000 for manpower deployed across various Affinity outlets. “We were patient for months. Our guards and housekeeping staff kept showing up despite delayed payments. But when our own people started going unpaid, we had no choice but to withdraw services,” said a senior official from the affected company. “They took us for a ride.”

Several employees have since come forward alleging that they were not only laid off without notice but also deprived of salaries stretching over two to three months. Some of these employees had served diligently for over a year, only to be abandoned without even a formal termination letter.

A cursory search online reveals a growing storm of consumer complaints as well. On Reddit, one user described Affinity’s in-store experience as “pathetically mismanaged,” citing broken equipment, untrained staff, and chaotic booking schedules. “They’re no longer what they used to be — and the poor service reflects a deeper rot within the organization,” said another review.

While Affinity Salons has so far remained tight-lipped about the controversy, insiders suggest that internal mismanagement, declining footfalls, and rising debts may be part of the reason for the company’s downfall — but critics say that’s no excuse for violating contractual commitments and withholding employee dues.

The matter has reportedly been escalated to legal advisors by at least two vendors, and several former employees are also considering lodging complaints with the labour commissioner.

Until Affinity addresses these serious allegations, the growing sentiment in both professional circles and customer forums is clear: the once-reputed brand has lost its sheen — not just in style, but in integrity.

If you’ve been affected or have unpaid dues from Affinity Salons, you are encouraged to reach out to relevant legal channels or industry bodies for redressal.
